God expects us to forgive

Again and again in the Bible we see that God expects us to be forgiving people. If God expects us to forgive, why would we feel it is better to hold on to our offence and Unforgiveness?

Jesus set the greatest example. As He was hanging on the cross fro a crime He had never committed, He spoke out forgiveness when He said: ‘Father forgive them for they know what the do’.
Here are some scriptures that remind us that God expects us to forgive others.

Ephesians 4:32 Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God has forgiven you.
Colossians 3:13 Be gentle and ready to forgive; never hold grudges. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

  1. This truth is of vital importance. As you rightfully said in your previous post; when we are willing to forgive others, who may have sinned, or committed iniquity against us; then it makes it possible for Godj;.also to forgive us.
Remember the parable of the unforgiving servant.
When we forgive ourselves and others, we are then able to walk with clean hands, a pure, righteous heart and a right spirit within us.
Job says:- “You shall also decide and decree a thing, and it shall be established for you; and the light [of God’s favour] shall shine upon your ways. When they make you low, you will say; there is a lifting up; and the humble person He lifts up and saves. He will even deliver the one [for whom you intercede] who is not innocent; yes, he will be delivered through the cleanness of your hands.(Job 22:28-30amp.).
