The need for repentance

God created man and placed him in the Garden of Eden, placing the following requirement on him,

Genesis 2:16-17  “Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:  But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”

Adam and Eve disregarded this restriction and as a result of their sin, their spirits, their souls and their bodies came under the curse of death.  This curse has been passed down to the entire human race  and therefore is on us.

Romans 5:12  Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.

God, knowing that repentance is the only gateway out of this curse of death ,says to us:

Acts17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent.

To add to the above problem the Bible says we as individuals have all personally sinned.

Romans3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
