The role that the Holy Spirit plays in our lives, if we will give Him right of way, is greater than we could ever imagine. In this study we are looking at the life of Stephen. He was considered to be the first martyr and stood out because he was described as a man who was “Full of the Holy Spirit.” Stephen was a man whose life was transformed and changed by the Spirit of God. We even see similarities between his death and the death of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Although we do not know much about him, his life leaves an example for us. You can read the story in Acts chapter 6 and 7.
THE HOLY SPIRIT WANTS TO TRANSFORMS US
The influence of the Holy Spirit in our lives leads to transformation. He wants to take us from one degree of glory to another. Change and growth, in a Christian’s life is an indication that the individual is allowing the transforming power of the Holy Spirit to be active in their lives. When you stop being transformed you have stopped allowing the Holy Spirit to influence you.
2 Corinthians 3:18 ‘And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.’
This transformation should be an ongoing part of our Christian experience. The transformation is that we should become more and more like Him – Transformed into His image. This transformation should not be two steps forward and then one step back process. It should be a transformation of ‘ever-increasing glory’.
