HOW DOES THIS PICTURE OF ‘GOD THE ROCK’ APPLY TO OUR LIVES?

a. THE ROCK OF SALVATION

2 Samuel 22:47 ‘The LORD lives! Praise to my Rock! May God, the Rock of my salvation, be exalted!’

He has the power to save us. This refers to salvation but extends to include His saving hand in our lives that can rescue and deliver us. His saving power and His saving grace is available right now.

b. THE ROCK OF REFUGE

Isaiah 17:10 ‘For you have forgotten the God of your salvation and have not remembered the Rock of your refuge.’

Psalm 31:2 ‘Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me.’

Psalm 94:22 The LORD has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.

He is the Rock even when you are in a hard place.

c. A ROCK OF SHELTER AND OF SHADE
Isaiah 25:4 ‘You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat.’

The truth is that storms do come and they are part of life. But in the storm we have a shelter and a shade. If you want to pass through the storms of life and stay standing, there is only one way to do it and this is stand on the Rock! A shelter and shade protects us from destruction.
