Whatever He says

God is looking for those who will respond to his promptings. God is looking for those individuals who will obey His every word.  As we obey God we can look forward to stepping into the greatness that God has for each one of us.   Again and again in scripture we see how that God rewards and fulfills His plans for those who do whatever He says.   We should get to the point in our lives that we follow what God says to us.   This involves both the minor and the major decisions of our lives.   The reward is that God wants to bless those who pursue Him in this way.
In the life of Jesus we see one of the greatest occasions when the instruction was given to ‘do whatever He says’. There are two things that were special about this occasion: firstly it was the very first miracle that Jesus performed and secondly to was a miracle that happened in response to obedience.

John 2:1-10 Two days later Jesus’ mother was a guest at a wedding in the village of Cana in Galilee, and Jesus and his disciples were invited too. The wine supply ran out during the festivities, and Jesus’ mother came to him with the problem. “I can’t help you now,” he said. “It isn’t yet my time for miracles.” But his mother told the servants, “Do whatever he tells you to.” Six stone waterpots were standing there; they were used for Jewish ceremonial purposes and held perhaps twenty to thirty gallons each. Then Jesus told the servants to fill them to the brim with water. When this was done he said, “Dip some out and take it to the master of ceremonies.” When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants did), he called the bridegroom over. “This is wonderful stuff !”

This whole story hinges around the one phrase: ‘Do whatever He tells you to do’. It is amazing to think that Mary had so much faith in her Son, even though she had not yet seen Him perform any miracles.  In her heart she must have known!
