SIMPLICITY KEEPS US FROM DISTRACTION AND SIN

When life becomes complicated, distraction creeps in, and distraction often opens the door for compromise. I have seen how not sticking to the basics and the Word of God causes people to drift. Small compromises become footholds for sin, these can slowly overtake us and harm families, marriages and communities. Simplicity keeps our eyes fixed on Jesus and makes it easy to notice when something is out of place. When you live simply, you guard your heart and stay alert to the subtle ways sin tries to sneak in. Let me give you an example here as well. The Bible unequivocally condemns adultery, considering it a serious sin against both God and one’s spouse. The truth is that adultery (unfaithfulness in marriage) is the end result of small inappropriate actions that creep in over time. When we allow these little things to creep in, they bring with them distraction and this distraction leads down the path of complications and to a point of no return. We end up facing great challenges and our lives become clothed in violence.

Malachi 2:16 ‘For the LORD God of Israel says that He hates divorce, for it covers one’s garment with violence.’

It is in the simplicity where we recognise the temptation and the distraction and can see clearly that the end will take us further than we wanted to go, keep us longer than we wanted to stay and cost us more than we wanted to pay.

STICK TO THE TRUTH OF GOD’S WORD – HE KNOWS BEST
God’s ways are not complicated, although people often complicate them! The basics are timeless:
Daily prayer and honest conversation with God.
Reading the Word and letting it shape your choices.
Trusting and relying on God on a daily basis.
Staying connected to fellow believers.
Serving where you can.
Being generous and showing kindness to others.
Living humbly, loving mercy, and seeking justice. (Micah 6:8)
When we stick to these simple truths, we stay spiritually healthy and fruitful.
